Happy April! So much happened in March let me run through it fast. I finished Grimoire Quest game structure finally. I went through several tests and tweaks to make it as fun as possible and I created a LOT of illustrations for the cards. I am waiting for the final beta deck to ship and a final test and then I will launch the Kickstarter campaign to manufacture the product. As a reward to myself I took last weekend to practice up my painting skills again after my brushes were literally collecting dust. I present to you my latest piece Yoda! It is a blend of the two main styles I have focused on over the last years Acrylic and watercolor wash.
If I'm completely honest the look and feel I am hoping to achieve is not quite there in this pieces. but I know what I want to change to get there in the future. Keep and eye out for another piece I will be completing for Motor City Comic Con in May. That's all for now. I have a lot of work to catch up on today and this week. Catch me next week in Indianapolis for Indiana Comic Con! I cant wait. Should be a great show.
Greetings folks! Yesterday I introduced to some friends and colleagues to my new fantasy table top game Grimoire Quest. We had a lot of fun (and a few arguments ha) All in all I got a lot of very helpful feedback and suggestions. I have a lot of heavy work ahead of me to make some crucial changes that I think will really simplify and speed up game play. That said, I didn't get a change to speak with everyone who attended. Below is a temporary survey form with a few questions. The responses will be anonymous
Hello folks, Tom Savage here. I just wanted to give some information about my radio silence and upcoming projects.
Anathema is in production but is taking a slight more relaxed approach to issue #3. Not to say I am taking a vacation by any means. But, I am very excited to direct most of my work focus to my new fantasy based action role playing war game Grimoire Quest! (Pronounced Grim-war ).
The game revolves around an epic fantasy war between 3-6 Wizards (players) all in a battle to recover the 10 missing pages of the Master Grimoire, the world's most powerful spell book. There are two ways to win-Collect all the pages of the Grimoire, or kill all the other players and stand unchallenged. It is turned based attack game with a simple narrative value. Each round can change by the random events read in the narrative. There are many clever attacks and defenses, (you can even resurrect defeated Wizards as your zombie slave to attack remaining players! FUN! )
The base deck at this time consist of 300 cards, all hand illustrated uniquely by yours truly.
Over the next month I will continue working on the illustrations and hosting beta test games with the intent of a Kickstarter campaign early spring to allow pre-orders and production. Stretch goals will include expansion packs, an official decorative playing board and more.

Also I am in the waiting wings for a future licensed project for a galaxy far far away and beyond. Keep your fingers crossed.
